All Focus on Menswear

LaurenceAirline_apif_blog

So before I get another email complaining that I only focus on women’s wear, here is a list of great designers and websites to check-out, that offer Africa-inspired clothing for the fashionable and stylish men out there; and for the ones who would like to be one or the other ;-)

Laurence Airline
Made in Ivory Coast –  a fashion-forward label that tries to “re-imagining the African continent’s cultural inheritance“. I like their aesthetic a lot! Some of their designs are not for the faint-hearted.

Nash Prints It

Nash Prints It

Ready to wear dress shirts made out of African Print. Designs look pretty cool and are quite affordable, too.

Babatunde Styles

Made in South Africa and famous for their African Print umbrellas. The brand also sells great accessories like hats, ties and laptop sleeves.

Ikire Jones

Menswear brand by Wale Oyejide that is inspired by Nigerian and Italian aesthetics. I love the suits! The photography and videos Wale creates for his collections are always very arty and just cool.

Samson Soboye

Stylist and designer with a store in London’s trendy area Shoreditch. Come here for menswear with an Ankara twist as well as interior design and sorry to mention it here in the menswear blog post: women’s wear ;-). Definitely a store worth checking out.

Yevu Clothing

All of Yevu’s clothing is made in Ghana. Yevu offers casual wear like shorts, jumpers and bomber jackets. Currently every item in their online store is marked as “sold out” – a bit strange so let’s hope for speedy restocking.

Nefer by Daniel Tohou

Based in Paris –  influenced by English tailoring: Nefer Couture creates elegant blazers with an Afropolitan twist.

Great inspiration for style & trends:

Streetetiquette

Lifestyle website/blog  by Joshua Kissi and Travis Gumbs that turned into a creative agency. Art, Fashion, Photography – whatever they do it’s stylish and cool – sometimes vintage but feels always very trendy in a good way.

Loux The Vintage Guru

Trendsetter, blogger, designer from Namibia who has made quite a name for himself with his vintage looks and stylish photography.
