APiF: Please introduce your business and your designs.
Bespoke Binny: Where African inspiration meets affordable handmade Western home furnishings and accessories. Not a large corporation or a fashion powerhouse, Bebespoke_binny_interview_apifspoke Binny is just one woman and her sewing machine, with a love for sewing, home interiors and all things Ankara.

APiF: How does your heritage inspire/influence your designs?
Bespoke Binny: My family is from Ghana and as a result I have such a love for Ankara. This combined with my passion for home furnishings is exactly why I chose the route of home furnishings, rather than using Ankara for dressmaking. I think it’s so important to incorporate culture into everyday living, and that’s why I’m so passionate about Bespoke Binny.

APiF: What is your professional background?
Bespoke Binny: Bespoke Binny started as a hobby for me. I’ve always loved sewing and took up sewing lessons as a recreation. By day I work as a trained CBT Therapist helping people with difficulties such as anxiety and depression. I am also currently studying my Professional Doctorate in Counseling Psychology.

APiF: How do you market your designs and how do you make them accessible to a global audience?
Bespoke Binny: I mainly market my designs through social media, places like Instagram & Facebook and when I meet customers at events. I sell my products via the online market place etsy. I really like using social networks to market my designs, as I can interact with those who buy my products and develop a 10460599_894647410589123_5083980843037081883_orelationship with them.

APiF: Any tips for new designers?
Bespoke Binny: The most important thing is to keep going. There will be times where you may doubt yourself, worry that you are not doing the right thing or wonder if your idea will take off. When you do have these moments I would encourage you to plough through.
