Beautiful Coats by Kibonen NY

I really like the new collection by Cameroonian designer Kibonen NY – especially the coats and capes. Kibonen was recently featured in Vogue Italia Talents Spotlight and also one of the 12 designers that were selected by the ITC Ethical Fashion Initiative.

The wool coats look so elegant with the print lining and highlights – their cut reminds me a bit of the 60ies. I am not that much into the pants, but the coats are ace! Kibonen about her inspiration: “My original inspirations came from the “Toghu”, an intricate and colorful embroidery done with wool on the garments worn by the royalty and on special occasions by the Tikar and Bamileke people of the North West Region of Cameroon. I also get inspired by cultures of other parts of the world. Nature relaxes me and brings out my deepest inspirations. Zaha Hadid’s architecture inspires me, too.”
