As Summer is finally here I put together a list of Summer Essentials. It is June, so the weather really has no excuses left. We expect sun and blue sky every day now until September :-)
I haven’t had the time yet to completely update my wardrobe and pack away all the winter clothes. But it is very high on my to-do list. Living in a NYC apartment, it just doesn’t make sense to let clothing for all seasons hang around. There is just not enough space.
If you are unhappy with the items in your Summer closet and want to spice up some of your go-to Summer looks, here is my list of Summer Essentials – with an African Fashion inspired twist.
What do you think? Anything missing that you consider an absolute must have summer essential? Comment below!

Espadrille are making a come-back every now and then. I used to not like them and consider them an item for sloppy dressers ;-) But I own Espadrille wedges with African Print fabric since 5 years and they still look fab and I always get compliments when wearing them. The Espadrille slippers by tsgr are comfy and stylish option for Summer outfits. Espadrille by French brand tsgr.
Everything is Off-The-Shoulder these days. And that is fine with me. I met 2 women recently that told me they can’t wear off-the-shoulder designs and I gave them a side-eye and convinced them otherwise. Anyone can wear this and it looks just fab. Tops by africaboutik >>>.
Metallic lenses, green lenses, yellow, pink…. are still the hit.
I have a pair of shades with a pink frame and golden metallic lenses and they are quite stylish. Pics from Pinterest – shot at AfroPunk.
